Estimate only, based on current Ontario rates for a single-family home. London charges no municipal land transfer tax. Your lawyer confirms the final figure.
The rules behind the number
- 1Ontario rates
0.5% up to $55,000, 1% to $250,000, 1.5% to $400,000, 2% to $2,000,000 and 2.5% above. Each rate only applies to the portion in that band.
- 2First-time buyer rebate
Eligible first-time buyers get up to $4,000 back, which covers the full tax on a home up to $368,000. Your lawyer claims it on closing.
- 3No London city tax
Toronto charges a second, municipal land transfer tax. London and St. Thomas don't, so what you see here is the whole amount.
